26 Baptized in One Service at Emmanuel-Brinklow
.
After the sermon presented on Sabbath, October 31 by Pastor Anthony A. Medley, 13 precious souls - mainly young people - stood before the Emmanuel-Brinklow congregation ready for baptism. The baptismal candidates took their vows with Pastor Gary L. Wimbish officiating and the congregation witnessing their dedication to God. An additional person joined the candidates as they took their vows, bringing the number to 14.

Before entering the pool, Pastor Medley reminded the congregation that anyone who gave his or her heart to the Lord that day could be baptized, as at Pentecost. Following the baptism of the 14, he made a call for others desiring baptism and asked the prayer warriors to pray earnestly for those who were wavering. "We'll wait for you," he said lovingly as he and Pastor Moses Eli held their hands high to encourage one more soul to make a decision for Jesus Christ. Seconds later, one brave young woman raised her hand and came forward. The appeal was made again and another came forward, and still another.

Brinklow's praise team led the congregation in songs - reminders of the sacrifice Christ made for us and of His love for all. More came forward, one or two at a time, and the number baptized jumped to 19, then 21, as the Holy Spirit moved in the church. Tears flowed freely among the members as they witnessed even more people deciding to follow Jesus. Family members, sometimes stunned and overwhelmed with emotion as loved ones took their stand, gazed in amazement and thankfulness to God.

By the end of the baptism service, 26 people had been baptized. The hearts of Brinklow members were deeply touched, and the pastors were moved beyond words. We all went home praising God for the marvelous things He had done, and thanking Him for the Holy Spirit who worked mightily in our church that day.
